For the third consecutive year, the finalists’ projects from the JTI Clean City Lab, JTI’s international design contest in collaboration with Future Concept Lab and under the patronage of Comune di Milano, will be on display at Milan’s La Triennale during Milan Design Week. The sixteen prototypes created by the students of four prestigious international design schools will be housed in an area designed as an abstract city.
More than 100 students from the four design schools participating in the contest (Milan’s Politecnico, the London South Bank University, Madrid’s IED-Spain and the HEAD of Geneva) accepted the challenge to design an area where smokers and non-smokers can share a social dimension that respects their respective needs while at the same time providing a cleaner and more civilized urban environment.
The winners were selected by an international jury of experts, including designer Aldo Cibic, designer Makio Hasuike, Livia Peraldo, the editor-in-chief of Elle Décor, who has worked in partnership with Francesco Morace, Chairman of Future Concept Lab and PierCarlo Alessiani, Chairman and Managing Director of JT International Italia.
Launched in 2011, the objective of “JTI Clean City Lab” is to revisit everyday objects and raise the awareness of smokers and non-smokers of the need to act responsibly towards others, respecting their urban living environments. The first edition focused on the portable ashtray of the future and the second on ashtrays for outdoor use. This year’s focus on urban spaces was even more challenging.
The JTI Clean City Lab was created in partnership with the Future Concept Lab, a strategic research and consulting institute that stands out on the international stage as one of the most advanced centres specialized in research, marketing and consumer trends. More info …
